Richard & Jack began their career together in December of 1963 when they hooked up with a local band from Brattleboro, VT known as "The Trophies". The band was playing at The Sitzmark Ski Lodge at the Mount Snow Ski Area in Vermont on weekends and continued there throughout the winter of 1963/1964.

On March 28, 1964 The Trophies recorded their hit record "Walkin' The Dog" - NORK 79907 which enjoyed much success, going to # 1 on both WBZ and WMEX in Boston. Subsequently, the band was signed by Kapp Records and was handled by the William Morris Agency in New York. In 1965 "The Trophies" recorded two additional singles on the Kapp label "Baby Doesn't Live Here Anymore" / "Everywhere I Go" - KAPP 714 and "Leave My Girl Alone" / "The Queen" - KAPP 750. both of which made Billboard Magazine's 'Top 10 pick of the week' list.

During the four years that Richard & Jack were with The Trophies, they played at venues throughout the Northeast, promoting their hit record, while playing with other stars the likes of Fats Domino, Del Shannon, The Shirelles, Dionne Warwick, and Chubby Checker.

During the 70's the two went their separate ways playing in a number of local bands. In 1983, The Trophies celebrated a 15 year reunion with a self-sponsored dance in Brattleboro, VT. It was an immediate sellout. From the popularity of that event, Jack, along with Richard and some other local musicians, formed an Oldie's Band which they called "The Solid Gold Cadillacs". The band had huge success and enjoyed a lengthy run, performing 120 dates per year, and winding operations up in the mid - 90's.
